*Ipswich holds many events throughout the calendar year such as the Qld Open Gold Championship, Ipswich Cup (horse racing), Qld 400 V8 Supercars at Qld raceway

*Major development is underway for the Ipswich Council such as the extension of the Cunningham highway, extensions of the Orion Shopping Centre, Education City, Ipswich Motorway to connect to Brisbane and the Gold Coast and by 2012 the new railway line to connect the suburbs of Ipswich up to the main line of Ipswich to Brisbane.
